IT WAS ONLY 3 WEEKS

Have you ever felt lost in a familiar place?

Every moment is unpredictable and presents a newness of events that range from happiness to despair. This body of work delves into the private lives of young adults living throughout Melbourne. The images were shot at weekly intervals in the same familiar location  to each individual. This presents those I photograph the opportunity to reflect back on one’s self and to capture the sometimes subtle, yet undeniable changes within each individual’s emotional well-being.

The series explores the relationship between documentation and reflection, highlighting the direct link through the unique portrait coupled with the personal hand-written statements. With no specific instruction on what to write, each subject has expressed themselves freely, jotting down whatever comes to mind in that particular moment in time. Each entry was written on the same day minutes before the photoshoot began.

You are invited to engage personally with each subject, to identify how each person feels over a duration of time and/or if they too feel lost in their own familiar place and why?
